[London : Robert Faulder, ca.1800]. A charming etching by John Carter – the remaining older buildings of the Savoy Hospital as they stood in the late eighteenth century. Originally produced for Thomas Pennant’s “Of London” (1790) – and here in slightly later impression on wove paper.
Etching on paper. Printed surface 115 x 139mm (approx. 4-1/2” x 5-1/2”). A few faint marks, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 67/006.

NEALE, John Preston, 1780-1847 : THE SAVOY, LONDON.

London : John Harris, 1815. An antique print – parts of the older hospital buildings still standing in 1815 – two soldiers cross the yard – a man grooms a horse. Engraved by James Lewis (fl.1813-1837) from a drawing by John Preston Neale. Originally produced for the part-work “Beauties of England and Wales” (1801-1816).
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 158 x 102mm (approx. 6-1/4” x 4”). Trimmed a little tight to left-hand margin, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 104/067.

SHEPHERD, Thomas Hosmer, 1793-1864 : ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST, SAVOY.

London : Jones & Co., 1830. An attractive antique print – the sixteenth-century Queen’s Chapel of the Savoy – a view from the churchyard – a donkey and some sheep look quietly on. Engraved by James Baylis Allen (1803-1876) from original studies (now in the GLC Library) by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd. Originally produced for Shepherd’s series “London and its Environs in the Nineteenth Century” (London : 1829-1832).
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 108 x 149mm (approx. 4-1/4” x 5-7/8”). A few tiny specks, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 161/049.
