A handsome and unusual bird’s-eye view of the length of the Strand with the adjacent streets and buildings, from Trafalgar Square eastwards to St. Clement Danes and the Law Courts, with St. Martin’s in the Fields and Charing Cross Station in the foreground, Covent Garden and Somerset House in the middle distance, and the beginnings of Fleet Street on the horizon. Engraved by George William Ruffle and originally produced for the 1895 edition of Herbert Fry’s “London : Illustrated by Twenty Bird’s Eye Views of the Principal Streets”, which had originally appeared in 1880 with a smaller number of views.
