[London : George Virtue, 1833]. A fine antique map of the county, decorated with seven coats of arms, an ornate gothic border, and vignette views of Chester Cathedral and Eaton Hall. Prepared by the antiquary Thomas Moule and originally engraved in 1833 by William Schmollinger (1811?-1869) for Moule’s part-work series “The English Counties Delineated” (1830-1837) – and here in very early state, before the addition of railways, etc.
Steel line engraving on paper. Original hand colour. Engraved surface 195 x 260mm (approx. 7-5/8” x 10-1/8”). A few slight marks and spots, short nick to one edge, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

Decorated with seven coats of arms, an ornate gothic border, and vignette views of Chester Cathedral and Eaton Hall. Originally engraved in 1832, the present version, showing some development of the railway system, is dated to about 1842.

London : Longman, Orme, Rees & Co., [ca.1860]. A clearly engraved map of the county from the Admiralty engravers John & Charles Walker – on a scale of just over four miles to the inch, particular attention being given to the newly built railways. Originally published in 1835, but here in a later and updated version.
Line engraving on paper, with original hand colour. Engraved surface 324 x 386mm (approx. 12-3/4” x 15-1/8”). Folding into a contemporary glazed paper case with printed label; light tanning to folds; case a little rubbed; small paint mark on back of case, but overall in very good and clean condition for a fragile item. A guaranteed genuine antique map.
