[London : George Virtue, 1837]. A handsome antique print – a distant view of Arran – snow-capped peaks, ships bending to the wind. Engraved by Henry Adlard (1799-1893) from an original study by the ubiquitous William Henry Bartlett. Originally produced for the part-work series “Scotland Illustrated” (London : 1835-1838).
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 136 x 177mm (approx. 5-3/8” x 7”). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

[Glasgow : Joseph Swan, 1830]. A handsome antique print – the double lighthouse on Pladda designed by Robert Stevenson – Ailsa Craig away to the south. Engraved by Joseph Swan (d.1872) from an original study by the Greenock artist John Fleming. Originally produced for Swan’s “Select Views on the River Clyde” series.

[London] : T. Nelson & Sons, [1891]. An attractive antique print – Lochranza Castle on its spit of land in the north of Arran. Originally produced for the Nelson “Souvenir of Scotland” series of views and view-books.
Chromolithograph on paper. Printed surface 82 x 124mm (approx. 3-1/4” x 4-7/8”). A few tiny specks, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

Southampton : Ordnance Survey Office, 1870. A handsome one-inch map of the Isle of Arran, with portions of the adjacent coastlines of the mainland. Engraved by Henry Baker and John Darling and originally published in November 1870, with the present map printed from an electrotype taken in that year.
Line engraving on paper. 685 x 626mm (approx. 27" x 24-3/4”). Dissected, mounted on linen and folding into a contemporary cloth case, lettered in gilt; case split at foot and lacking ties; two residual tape-marks extending from left-hand margin to first fold, a few faint spots, but otherwise in very good condition.
