BARTLETT, William Henry, 1809-1854 : AILSA CRAIG FROM TURNBURY CASTLE.

[London : George Virtue, 1837]. A dramatic antique print – waves lap at the ruin of Turnberry Castle – Ailsa Craig in the distance. Engraved by Charles Cousen (1813-1889) from an original study by William Henry Bartlett. Originally produced for the part-work series “Scotland Illustrated” (London : 1835-1838).
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 134 x 174mm (approx. 5-1/4” x 6-7/8”). Just a hint of dustiness to outer margins, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

[Glasgow : Joseph Swan, 1830]. A pleasant antique print – the castle across the wooded cove – Ailsa Craig in the distance. Engraved by Joseph Swan (d.1872) from an original study by the Greenock artist John Fleming. Originally produced for Swan’s “Select Views on the River Clyde” series.
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 126 x 172mm (approx. 5” x 6-3/4”). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.
