BARTLETT, William Henry, 1809-1854 : THE LIGHT HOUSE, ABERDEEN.

[London : Virtue & Co., ca.1880]. An attractive antique print – a view from the rocks to the lighthouse – shipping in heavy seas. Engraved by Edward John Roberts (1797-1865) from an original study by the much-admired William Henry Bartlett. Originally produced for the part-work series “Ports, Harbours, Watering Places and Coast Scenery of Great Britain” (London : 1836-1842) and here in a later nineteenth-century impression.
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 125 x 188mm (approx. 5” x 7-3/8”). A couple of faint marks to blank margins, but otherwise in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

[Edinburgh : William Paterson, ca.1870]. An elegant antique print – the interior of Aberdeen cathedral. Engraved by John Henry Le Keux from an original study by the architect and illustrator R. W. Billings. Originally produced for the part-work “Baronial and Ecclesiastical Antiquities of Scotland”, first published between 1845 and 1852 and here in a slightly later edition.
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 232 x 171mm (approx. 9-3/8” x 6-3/4”). A few tiny specks, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

Engraved by Samuel Lacey (1786-1859) from an original study by John Preston Neale. Originally produced for the partwork series “Views of the Seats, Mansions, Castles, etc. of Noblemen and Gentlemen” (London : 1829-1831).
