London : J. Hinton, 1750. A handsome antique print – a panoramic view of the recently completed Westminster Bridge – Lambeth Palace in the distance, Westminster Abbey and a cluster of buildings to the right, a fashionably dressed couple are punted to a landing stage in the foreground. Originally produced for John Hinton’s "Universal Magazine of Knowledge and Pleasure".
Copper line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 167 x 279mm (approx. 6-5/8” x 11"). Old vertical creases where the print has been folded to fit the magazine format, but otherwise in very good state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

[IRELAND, Samuel, 1744-1800] : WESTMINSTER-BRIDGE, ABBEY, &C.

[London : T. Egerton], 1799. A fine late eighteenth-century print – Westminster Bridge, boats and flags on the river, Westminster Abbey beyond. Etched in aquatint by Charles Rosenberg (1749?-1826) from an original study by the print-dealer and amateur painter Samuel Ireland. Originally produced for Ireland’s “Picturesque Views on the River Thames” (1792) and here in a slightly later impression.
Sepia aquatint on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 125 x 167mm (approx. 5” x 6-1/2”). A few tiny marks to outer blank margins, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 71/049.

[London : John Tallis & Co., 1852]. A charming small antique print – Westminster Bridge with the Houses of Parliament beyond. Originally produced for Payne’s “Illustrated London, or a Series of Views in the British Metropolis and its Vicinity” (London : 1846-1847) – and here in a slightly later impression.
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 65 x 87mm (approx. 2-5/8” x 3-3/8”). A touch of dustiness to outer blank margins, but otherwise in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 207/020A.

PUGH, Edward, 1763-1813 : WESTMINSTER FROM LAMBETH.

London : Richard Phillips, 1804. An attractive antique print – a prospect of Westminster from Lambeth Walk – the river at high tide. The scene takes in – from left to right – Westminster Abbey; St. Margaret’s church with its flag; Westminster Hall with its turrets; the trees of the Speaker’s garden, with the Houses of Parliament beyond; the tower and cupola of the Horse Guards; the spire of St. James Piccadilly; the Banqueting House; Westminster Bridge with St. Martin in the Fields and St. Giles beyond; the pyramidal tower of the Hungerford Water Works; Adelphi Terrace, and the lofty Drury Lane Theatre with its tower. Engraved by Samuel Rawle (1776-1860) from an original study by Edward Pugh, and originally produced for Phillips’ part-work “Modern London : Being the History and Present State of the British Metropolis” (London : 1804).

SHEPHERD, Thomas Hosmer, 1793-1864 : WESTMINSTER BRIDGE.

[London : Jones & Co., 1831]. A delightful antique print – the bridge from the south-east, the Abbey, etc., beyond, small craft on the river. Engraved by Matthew James Starling (1805-1889) from an original study by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of nineteenth-century London. Originally produced for Shepherd’s part-work series “London and its Environs in the Nineteenth Century” (1829-1832).
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 111 x 160mm (approx. 4-3/8” x 6-1/4”). A few tiny specks, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 161/122.

London : Tombleson & Co., [1833]. A charming antique print showing the bridge from the south, with the abbey, etc. beyond, a cluster of small craft in the foreground. An engraved decorative border in “gothick” style features the parliamentary portcullis, dragons, stylised leaves, etc. Engraved by the otherwise unrecorded C. Hall from an original study by William Tombleson (fl.1824-1841). Originally published with the part-work series “Tombleson’s Views of the Thames and Medway” (1833-1834).
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 147 x 185mm (approx. 5-3/4” x 7-1/4”). A few tiny specks, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 178/046.
