[London : J. Cooke, 1778]. A handsome antique print - a panoramic view of eighteenth-century Madrid. Originally produced for the John Cooke part-work publication "A New and Complete System of Geography" (London : 1777-1778).
Copper line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 179 x 257mm (approx. 7" x 10-1/8"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

ANTIQUE MAP : MADRID.

CLARKE, W.B. (William Barnard) : MADRID.

London : Baldwin & Cradock, 1831. A finely worked town-plan of Madrid, giving good detail at a scale of around five inches to the mile. Thumbnail elevations of the principal buildings decorate the lower border. Engraved by Josiah Henshall (1801?-1869) from a drawing by the architect W. B. Clarke, as part of a series produced for the "Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge" (1831-1843).
Steel line engraving on paper, with original outline hand colour. Engraved surface 311 x 367mm (approx. 12-1/4" x 14-1/2"). A couple of faint spots, some very mild creasing, but overall in very good and clean condition. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

FER, Nicolas de, 1646-1720 : ESPAGNE ET PORTUGAL DIVISÉS EN SES PRINCIPALES PARTIES OU ROYAUMES.

Paris : chez l'Autheur, 1705. A handsome early eighteenth century map - Spain and Portugal with a neatly worked baroque cartouche - engraved by H. van Loon for the well-known Parisian mapmaker Nicolas de Fer.
Etching and line engraving on paper, with original outline hand colour. Engraved surface 218 x 329mm (approx. 8-5/8" x 13"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

RAPKIN, John, 1813-1899 : SPAIN AND PORTUGAL.

London : John Tallis & Co., [ca.1850]. A most attractive mid nineteenth-century map, decorated with a vinet border and vignette views of Madrid, Lisbon, etc. The map was engraved by John Rapkin, with the additional decorative work by Nathaniel Whittock (1791-1860) and John Rogers (1800?-1882).
Steel line engraving on paper. Original outline hand colour, augmented with later wash. Engraved surface 255 x 313mm (approx. 10" x 12-1/4"). Original vertical fold, but otherwise in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.
