HEANEY, Seamus, 1939-2013 : STATION ISLAND.

HEANEY, Seamus, 1939-2013 : STATION ISLAND.

London : Faber & Faber, (1984). First edition. One of the most celebrated collections of poems of modern times – “Many of these poems have a tough rind as though the author knew for his purposes deferred comprehension was better than instant. Obliquity suits him. Heaney’s talent, a prodigious one, is exfoliating and augmenting here” (Richard Ellman).
Post 8vo (21cm). (124),[iv] – including integral endpapers. Original black boards, ruled and lettered in gilt; a fine copy in an equally fine dust-jacket.

HEANEY, Seamus, 1939-2013 : NEW SELECTED POEMS 1966-1987.

London : Faber & Faber, (1990). First edition. Signed by Seamus Heaney on the front free endpaper. A fine selection of Heaney’s work, the selection made by Heaney himself from his ten earlier collections – well over 100 poems, with notes, etc.
Demy8vo (23cm). x,(246)pp. Original cloth, ruled and lettered in gilt; a hint of a bruise to one corner; some faint spotting to top edge; small mark near signature, but overall a very good copy in the dust-jacket, which bears a portrait by Louis le Brocquy – lightly rubbed at extremities. From the library of the actress, poet, socialite and bohemian aristocrat Pauline Tennant (1929-2008), later Lady Rumbold, with her pastoral Pauline Rumbold bookplate on the front pastedown.
