[ENGLISH SCHOOL] : FORMERLY THE RESIDENCE OF SIR RICHARD STEEL, HAVERSTOCK HILL, HAMPSTEAD, MIDDLESEX. [London : L. Tallis ca. 1850]. A very attractive antique print of early nineteenth-century Haverstock Hill – St. Paul’s and the city beyond – the old house once lived in by the author, wit and politician, Sir Richard Steele (1672-1729). The cottage was demolished in the 1860s, but Steele’s Road and Steeles Mews commemorate the location.
